UNION COUNTY RECORDER-Paula White  782-1725

The new Union County Website is up and running.  Please log onto www.unioncountyiowa.org.

As of October 1, you will need to supply length, width, capacity and hull I.D. number before we can register/renew your boat.  Boats in Iowa renew in April 2005 and owners will need to supply this information if it isn’t on your registration.

Landowner and paid Deer and Turkey tags are on sale.  Please stop by the office for further information.

New laws are in effect for the purchase of ATV’s/Snowmobiles.  Please contact the office if you plan to purchase an out of state or an unregistered vehicle.

UNION COUNTY AUDITOR-Sandy Hysell  782-1701

The Auditor’s Office is busy with the November 2, 2004 General Election and are accepting Requests for Absentee Ballots.  Voter Registration deadline is Saturday, October 23, 2004 and our office will be open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The last day to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to you is on October 29, 2004.  We will be open on Saturday, October 30, 2004 from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm for Absentee Voting in the office.

As of July 2, 2004 General Relief recipients need to go to Matura for assistance, since the county no longer has a full-time General Relief Coordinator.  Iowa City papers will be taken care of in the Auditor’s office.

UNION COUNTY TREASURER-Linda Marley  782-1710

Drivers License (hours 8:30-4:00)

First half property taxes were due by September 30, 2004.  If your first half has not been paid it will now accrue 1 ½% penalty for each month it remains unpaid.  Remember that you can still use the website, www.iowatreasurers.org, to pay your delinquent taxes and the March payment.  A huge thank you from all of us for your patience when you had to stand in line or wait for a return phone call.

It’s that time of year when farmers are increasing the tonnage on their trucks in order to haul grain.  Please remember to bring in your current registration when you come into our office.  You must have the current registration and the tonnage increase attached to be legal.  You will receive a fine for carrying one or the other and not both.  Don’t forget that you can renew your vehicles online at www.getyourtags.com.  You will need the PIN number printed on your renewal notice that is sent out the month prior to your renewal month.

UNION COUNTY ASSESSOR-Gene Haner  782-1735

All Union County residents who have purchased a home and moved should stop in and sign a New Homestead and Military Exemption, if eligible.

If you have made any building changes, please notify this office.

Family Farm Credit is now a one-time sign up and can be signed at any time for qualifying ground.
