UNION COUNTY RECORDER - Paula White  782-1725

The new Union County Website is up and running.  Please log onto www.unioncountyiowa.org.

As of October 1, you will need to supply length, width, capacity and hull I.D. number before we can register/renew your boat.  Boats in Iowa renew in April 2005 and owners will need to supply this information if it isn’t on your registration.

Landowner and paid Deer and Turkey tags are on sale.  Please stop by the office for further information.

New laws are in effect for the purchase of ATV’s/Snowmobiles.  Please contact the office if you plan to purchase an out of state or an unregistered vehicle.

UNION COUNTY AUDITOR - Sandy Hysell  782-1701

The General Election had a 67% voter turnout.  The Auditor’s office wants to give a big thanks to all the Poll Workers, we appreciate everything you do.

The County Offices will be closed on November 11, 2004 to observe Veterans’ Day and on November 25, 2004 and November 26, 2004 to observe the Thanksgiving Holiday.

As of July 1, 2004 General Relief recipients need to go to Matura for assistance, since the county no longer has a full-time General Relief Coordinator.  Iowa City papers will be taken care of in the Auditor’s Office.

UNION COUNTY TREASURER - Linda Marley  782-1710
Drivers License (hours 8:30-4:00)

As the end of the year is fast approaching, so is the implementation of the new system for issuing motor vehicle transactions.   The office will be closed to attend a training session on Monday November 15th, 2004 and then again on December 8th and 9th, 2004.  The DOT will have the current system shutdown on December 31st, 2004 so we will also be closed that day.  Please make note of these closing days and accept our apologies for any inconveniences this may cause.

The current system is over 20 years old.  The new system will have a lot more security features, an instant update rather than an overnight update of daily transactions, and better audit trails and reporting.  Once we have used the system some and get accustomed to it, the title and registration process should take less time.  The paperwork required to do a title and registration won’t change any so that won’t be any less burdensome.

Don’t forget that you may still pay your taxes, even if they are delinquent, online at www.iowatreasurers.org.  Even if you aren’t paying taxes, check out the website for other information from the Treasurer’s office.  You can download forms, Driver's License manuals, and lots of other information there.  You can also renew your vehicles online at www.getyourtags.com.

UNION COUNTY ASSESSOR - Gene Haner  782-1735

All Union County residents who have purchased a home and moved should stop in and sign a New Homestead and Military Exemption, if eligible.

If you have made any building changes, please notify this office.
Family Farm Credit is now a one-time sign up and can be signed at any time for qualifying ground.
