Courthouse News & Announcements

Courthouse News - May 5, 2005

UNION COUNTY RECORDER - Paula White, 641-782-1725.

All boats in Iowa had a renewal date of April 30, 2005.  If you missed the deadline, there is a $5.00 penalty.  If you plan to buy or sell a boat, all boats must have a current registration at the time of sale.  If you buy a boat out of state, you must also have a current registration and title.  Please call if you have any questions.

Passport fees are now $97.00 for ages 16 & older and $82.00 for ages 15 & under.  Please apply early to avoid expedite fees.  A passport can take 25 business days to process plus mail time.

UNION COUNTY AUDITOR - Sandy Hysell, 641-782-1701.

The Auditor’s Office is working on implementing the Help America Vote Act (HAVA).  On May 5, 2005, Sandy Hysell, County Auditor; Mindy Schaefer, Election Deputy; and an Official assigned by the State went around and visited all the polling places to assess the handicap accessibility standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of each polling site.  Also, the Office is working on possibly scheduling two more voting equipment demonstrations with Sequoia and MicroVote.

The Courthouse will be closed on May 30, 2004 to observe Memorial Day.
