All boats in Iowa had a renewal date of April 30, 2005. If you missed the deadline, there is a $5.00 penalty. If you plan to buy or sell a boat, ALL boats must have a current registration at the time of sale. If you buy a boat out of state, you must also have a current registration and title. Please call if you have any questions.
Passport fees are now $97.00 for ages 16 & older and $82.00 for ages 15 & under. Please apply early to avoid expedite fees. A passport can take 25 business days to process plus mail time. There are new application forms. If you have an old one, please stop by or log onto the website to print the new form.

The Auditor’s office is preparing for the end of the fiscal year on June 30, 2005.
Also, our office is continuing to hold demonstrations of different company’s election equipment before recommending our choice to the Board of Supervisors for their approval. The types of equipment that have been demonstrated are ES&S, Diebold, Sequoia, and on June 8 we will view MicroVote.
September 13, 2005 is the date for the Creston and East Union School Board Election. The filing deadline is August 4, 2005 with the School Board Secretary.
The Courthouse will be closed July 4, 2005 to observe Independence Day.

The Annual Tax Sale will be held on Monday June 20th, 2005. If you are interested in bidding you must pre-register by Thursday June 16th, 2005. You may obtain a tax sale packet with the forms and terms and conditions from our office or online at www.iowatreasurers.org.
Effective June 1, 2005, you will no longer be able to add or renew the Hazmat drivers license in our office. You must go to one of the DOT stations for a background check and fingerprinting. We do have information in our office on the procedures necessary to add or renew the hazmat as well as the DOT station locations.
We now have the written tests for the “S” school bus endorsement. We cannot add the “S” endorsement to your license until after July 1, 2005 but you may take the test any time. When you come into our office to add the endorsement, you will have to self certify that you have at least 2 years prior school bus driving experience in order for the drive test to be waived.
Please remember to bring in your renewal notices or plate numbers when renewing motor vehicles. It helps speed up the process for us and reduces your wait time.
You may renew your vehicles online at www.getyourtags.com www.getyourtags.com provided the vehicles are currently licensed and you received a renewal notice with a PIN number.

All Union County residents who have purchased a home and moved should stop in and sign a New Homestead and Military Exemption, if eligible.
If you have made any building changes, please notify this office.
Family Farm Credit is now a one-time sign up and can be signed at any time for qualifying ground.
