UNION COUNTY TREASURER - Linda Marley,641-782-1710.
Drivers License (hours 8:30-4:00).

Second half real estate taxes are due by March 31st.  The payment coupons for both halves were attached to the tax statements that were mailed in August 2007.  Please remember to bring or send this coupon with your payment as it helps us to properly apply the payment.  You may pay by cash, check or Discover card in our office or by mail.  You may pay online using Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or have the tax deducted from your checking or savings account.  The fee for using the e-check method of payment has decreased from two dollars to forty cents per transaction.  The fee for using your credit card is 2.5% of the total tax due plus $1.50 per transaction.  Our office is open to accept payments from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.  The office will close at noon on Good Friday, March 21st.  The website is available 24/7.

Don’t forget to ask for your Senior Citizen/Disabled property tax and mobile home credit forms.  In order to qualify, your income has to be less than $19,503 for the year of 2007.  The form needs to be completed and returned to us by June 1, 2008 to qualify for the taxes due in September 2008.

If your taxes are included in your mortgage payment, please keep in mind that those payments do not usually come into our office until the last week of March.  You can check the paid or unpaid status of your taxes on the website.  Payments usually show posted within 2 days of receipt.  You may also check with our office as to the payment status.

Many people are working on getting their income tax returns filed at this time also.  We are receiving inquiries as to the amount of property taxes and vehicle registration fees that were paid in 2007.  Your vehicle registrations, that should be kept in the vehicle, show the amount that was paid.  If you need assistance from us in finding the amount, please have your license plate number available when calling.
